There are festivals, and then there is Wintermoon… I’m David Flower and after more than 15 years of performing there, I can honestly say Wintermoon has given me some of the most treasured memories of my life. So many beautiful, unexpected, and life changing moments have happened in that magical pocket. Friendships deepen, music takes on new meaning, and the spirit of the place stays with you long after that long weekend out of range. For three decades, Wintermoon has brought together families, musicians, travellers, and dreamers to share in folk, roots, world, and acoustic music beneath the tropical rainforest canopy. From sunrise yoga to late-night campfire jams, artisan markets, workshops, amazing food, barefoot dancing, creek swims, and kids glowing with creativity, every moment carries that rare feeling of belonging. For me, it remains the place where the soul of my musical craft is nourished and rebirthed through the organic window, heaps of laughter, workshops for all ages, and the chai house wind down or ‘up’ late night jams have always brought the magic, but most of all the incredible community energy that keeps this a yearly must go festival. This year feels extra special — honouring 30 years of music, people, and wonder, while also celebrating new beginnings with the new stage and other spaces coming to life. It will be different but together we will keep the spirit and go with the flow and the magic will happen. My own Wintermoon journey began back in 2007 at Sunny Coast's "Peregian Originals", when Jenny from the heart of the Wintermoon festival saw us and invited our band to play the 2007 festival. We travelled up in a big old green bus with Chris driving around 15 hours n arrived weary but excited and got involved from night one and that debut changed everything. The audiences got what I was about, danced and sang as the vibe went higher and we jammed and collaborated all weekend. And here we are today, a little older and wiser and ready to shine once more. I'll have a great band to celebrate with !! So I invite you to come this May Day weekend and be part of something beautiful.
