Six years after the unforgettable Essential Services Tour of 2020, Australian troubadours David Flower and Chris Matthews reunite for a very essential return to Oodies to celebrate such life changing moments. Born during the uncertainty of the pandemic, the pair’s now-famous Bruce Highway runs against the grain became a symbol of resilience, music and connection when live performance was needed most, whether you realised it or not ;)
Their return celebrates the spirit of community, songwriting and live music that Oodies has presented for years now proving that audiences are passionate about intimate concerts where the songwriting , story telling and humour are presented the way it should be. Both David n Chris have mostly self taught individual guitar mastery flowing through folk funk, country and blues feels supporting the story’s behind the songs.
The connection between David Flower and Oodies stretches back to a magical early Bluebird Series performance alongside Chris Matthews with sets from Kate Mahood and Vagilla Joyce a night immortalised forever in a live painting by the late artist Bob Gammage, still proudly hanging on the venue wall. Together again, the two seasoned road warriors bring decades of touring experience, acclaimed songwriting and heartfelt performance to the stage and most of all its light hearted banter and collaboration of two different styles bringing home the essence of authenticity. From folk festivals and intimate house concerts to major Australian events, both artists have built loyal followings through authenticity, passion and unforgettable live shows that celebrate the power of original Australian music and the communities that keep it alive.
