The next stop on our journey through paradise invites you to trade the seaside for the serene beauty of the lakeside, as we make our way to Lake Proserpine / Gia Country for the Reef Sundowner. Just 30 minutes inland from Proserpine, Lake Proserpine is a hidden gem of peaceful beauty, providing the perfect place to slow down, unwind, and embrace the magic of the moment.

Settle in for a delightful afternoon of live acoustic folk music, delicious local food, and breathtaking lake views, all set on the traditional lands of the Gia people. Join fellow trail-goers and locals for this free event as we indulge in fresh sourdough pizza, let the kids enjoy the jumping castle, and bask in the warmth of good company.

The afternoon begins with an engaging performance by First Nations musicians Harold Bowen (Gia and Ngaro Traditional Owner) and Adi Thomas (South Sea Islander and Polynesian), who share their cultural heritage and musical connection through a captivating blend of song and storytelling

Next, the Whitsundays’ favourite troubadour, David Flower, electrifies the crowd with his passionate performance. The evening continues with the soulful harmonies of transpacific troubadours, Those Folk, who will transport you through their world of love, nostalgia, and hope. To close the night, join in a fireside singalong featuring gospel of the American South and old-timey tunes. As part of this special Fireside Jam, emerging songwriters from I Heart Songwriting Club’s Songs from the Reef program will share a selection of original songs—showcasing fresh regional talent under the stars.

For those wanting to extend the experience, the nearby campground offers a chance to stay the night by the lakeside. It’s an evening to remember, filled with good food, great music, and the breathtaking beauty that makes this spot a beloved addition to any Queensland travel itinerary.
