David Flower is a master multi-instrumentalist with infectious energy. He transports you to another time and place with his contagious lyrics. It’s the funkiest folk boogie blues show you never saw coming—so delightfully rambunctious.”

Elle Hanlon Rock n roll Magazine Aust

"Great social commentary filled with raw honesty and great lyrics, a well balanced album by musicians who really know their stuff"

- Lisa Kither, Reviewer Sunshine Coast Daily

"The prolific Flower has a particular attraction to the acoustic guitar's ability to create natural melody, which is evident on his new self titled album. He plays a unique, enticing blend of acoustic folk and reggae expressing himself both on a personal and social level"

- Time Off

"The eagerly awaited CD from the master of reggae, beach funk, soft rock and warm ballads hit the right notes"

- Ken Lord, Courier Mail

A crazy look at a crazy world where the bombs keep exploding in most cases just to test the triggers

This song is written in reference to France conducting its Pacific nuclear tests at Moruroa (Moruroa) Atoll and nearby Fangataufa Atoll, both part of French Polynesia in the South Pacific.

Moruroa & Fangataufa Atolls – The Nuclear Test Sites
Location: About 1,200 km southeast of Tahiti
Testing period: 1966–1996
Total tests:
Moruroa: 147 nuclear tests Fangataufa: 46 nuclear tests

Types of tests:
Atmospheric tests (1966–1974) – bombs exploded in the open air Underground tests (1975–1996) – detonations beneath the coral rock
France moved underground after massive international backlash over radioactive fallout from atmospheric explosions.

The now deceased Dick Cheney had been CEO of Halliburton, one of the world’s biggest fracking service companies.
His administration’s policies clearly benefited the industry.
CSG drains aquifers, threatens the Great Artesian Basin, and uses chemicals that can contaminate groundwater. Dick Cheney drove the 2005 US Energy Policy Act that exempted fracking chemicals from Safe Drinking Water Act rules, a move that turbo-charged the global expansion of unconventional gas and set the template for weak regulation worldwide, including in Australia.

Culmination gig. The hectic year can finally rest and begin the wind-down around the shady and cool late dry season of the Tar Tree Stage, as we showcase the essence of the Far Far North. It will be small and cosy, comfy and chilled (and who knows what else). We are really excited about this! Getting flashbacks already of the original BMUP all those years ago.

The Mareeba Rodeo Arena (also known as Kerribee Park) is the proud home of Savannah in the Round. It’s located just 7km from the centre of Mareeba in the Cairns Hinterland on State Route 27 - the main north/west road to the Gulf Country, and the start of the world famous 3,700-kilometre road trip across the top of Australia from Cairns to Broome, Savannah Way. The event takes place 66km from Cairns Airport, or about an hour’s drive.

Savannah in the Round is unlike any other festival. Your festival armband gives you admission to the festival precinct and your designated seating area (whether general admission or grandstand seating). You are free to move around the festival precinct, including a front of stage area to enjoy the Cape Stage performances. The Cape Stage operates between 4.40pm and 11.30pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Savannah in the Round will also program three support stages; the Big Top Music Hall, the Bull Bar, and the Backyard Stage – each of which operates across the day from mid morning, and after the Cape Stage until late.

Savannah in the Round offers campgrounds adjacent to the festival site, 24/7 security, medical support, and toilet/shower facilities. Additionally, your camping armband gives you access to a free shuttle bus service between the Mareeba Rodeo Arena (the festival site) and the Mareeba town centre from Thursday to Sunday (inclusive).

The Wolvi Hall provides an all-weather venue, while the beautiful grounds around the hall provide off-grid camping within meters of the entertainment.
